Woman of Tomorrow’ Set Video Reveals a Key Plot Detail About the Milly Alcock-Led Movie
Apr 26, 2025
One of the highly anticipated DC Studios pics is still a ways away from its arrival date, set for the summer of 2026, and fans are eagerly counting down till then. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is expected to hit U.S. theaters on June 26 of next year as the second film in the DC Universe. It stars Milly Alcock as the title character, who fans got a glimpse of in a previously shared set image. While few details are known about the upcoming movie, ComicBook has confirmed newly released footage from the set, which hints at a major idea about its direction.
As seen in the video from UnBoxPHD, construction of what looks like a classic American town is ongoing for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow amid filming. This is standard in blockbuster production, but certainly raises questions for the DC film given its source material, Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s critically acclaimed comic book series of the same name. Although the book unfolds primarily across the vastness of outer space, the emergence of this substantial Earth-based location suggests the upcoming film adaptation might highlight more of Supergirl’s life on Earth.
This potentially alters the story structure for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe that came to life in 2024 with the animated series Creature Commandos. The newly revealed American town set indicates a significant expansion or re-framing of the Earth-bound elements of Kara Zor-El’s story in the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow adaptation. Filming is still underway for the pic, which began in January and is set to end next month with locations including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, London, and Iceland.
Kara Zor-El Goes on A Murderous Quest for Revenge in ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’
As an adaptation of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book miniseries, published in 2021 to 2022, the movie will follow Kara’s journey across the galaxy with Krypto, in celebration of her 21st birthday, during which she meets the young Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley) and goes on a murderous quest for revenge. In the book, Ruthye is a young alien girl seeking vengeance against Krem of the Yellow Hills, the mercenary who murdered her father and stole her family’s sword.
Starring in the new superhero film besides Alcock and Ridley are Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Supergirl’s father, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Supergirl’s mother and Jason Momoa, who will make a cameo appearance as Lobo, an alien mercenary and bounty hunter from the utopian planet Czarnia.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow debuts in theaters in 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future news and watch the latest footage from the film’s set below.
